The Le Tanneur accessories brand is one of the oldest leather goods companies in France. Le Tanneur was born in 1898 from an association between a leather manufacturer and a tanner who applied for a patent for a revolutionary purse, the "stitchless purse", which still features in the latest Le Tanneur collections. The company acquired a monopoly on the leather accessories market in the 1930s. Thirty years later, Le Tanneur launched an unprecedented publicity campaign that gave the company a reputation never contested since — the posters displayed on all the billboards along the roads of France vaunted "beautiful leather gifts" from Le Tanneur. In 1997, the company was taken over by Hervé Descottes. Le Tanneur was thus welcomed into the fold of the Le Tanneur & Cie group, alongside the famous leather manufacturer Soco. Le Tanneur now offers a whole world of classic fashion accessories and a high level of quality that are aimed at a demanding clientele. Elegance and creativity are the cornerstones of Le Tanneur.
